Jane Rayner

Freelance equine portrait photographer based in Oxfordshire.

For many years I worked on the other side of the camera as a television news reporter and presenter. I covered a wide range of national and local stories, presented a nightly news magazine programme as well as documentaries and features.

As a lover of the countryside, I brought up my children surrounded by dogs and horses. I have been a pony club mum and driven miles with a trailer attending many local events. I know all about the dedication, hard work, tears of frustration and tears of joy at the small victories, which in turn form that precious bond between horse and rider. I have worked with professional riders too and seen how that special relationship with a horse is just as vital for those at the top of their game.

A three year City and Guilds diploma in photography allowed me to harness my experience of live filming and years of caring for ponies and horses, to create my dream role as an equine portrait photographer. It is a joy to capture the love between horse and rider in images which can be treasured forever.
